Nicknamed the ‘Safari Capital of the World’, it has incredible features such as the Nairobi National Park where lions and rhinos can be sighted grazing in the backdrop of skyline buildings. One can feed endangered Rothschild’s giraffes at the Giraffe Centre or learn more about elephants at the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust Conservation Centre or tour the colonial home of Karen Blixen at the Karen Blixen Museum. One cannot talk of Kenya without talking of the Maasai Mara – a region that was captured in the popular Big Cat Diary and Disney’s African Cats. The great migration, which is one of the seven natural wonders of the world, occurs in the gloriously beautiful and fertile savannah. Previously, it was referred to by the famous biologist Julian Huxley as “the only readily explored and investigated remaining fragment of the pre-human climax civilization of the tropics”.
This is also one of the places where even today Maasai in their tribal costumes graze their cattle and goats almost in the same way as perhaps they did when they first settled down in this land 350 years back. You will reach the lodge before sunset to take your dinner and spend the night.
