3-Day Rwanda and Gorilla Trekking Safari

Upon arrival in Kigali, your Likana Safari driver-guide will warmly welcome you and provide a briefing about your 3-day safari. If you arrive at night, you will be transferred to your hotel in the city for an overnight stay.

After breakfast, enjoy a Kigali city tour, including visits to key attractions such as the National Museum, the Kigali Genocide Memorial, and the Kigali Convention Centre. After lunch, you will continue your journey north toward Volcanoes National Park, located about 80 km from the city.

If time permits, you may also visit the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund to learn more about the conservation of endangered mountain gorillas. Later, check in at your accommodation near the park for dinner and an overnight stay.

Begin your day with an early breakfast before heading to the park headquarters for a briefing on gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park. After the briefing, set out on an exciting trek through the forest, which may take between 1 to 6 hours depending on the location of the gorilla family.

Once you find them, you will spend up to one hour observing their behavior—watching them feed, play, groom, and interact in their natural habitat. Along the way, you may also encounter golden monkeys, forest birds, and occasionally other wildlife such as buffaloes.

After the trek, return to your lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, you can choose to visit the scenic Twin Lakes of Burera and Ruhondo, explore a nearby community and enjoy traditional cultural performances, or simply relax at your lodge.

Start your day early with a delicious breakfast before checking out from the lodge. Your driver-guide will then transfer you to Kigali, where you’ll have time for shopping at local markets to purchase souvenirs and handcrafted items.

If time permits, you may also visit the pottery project and the Franco-Rwandan Cultural Centre to learn more about local arts and culture. Enjoy a relaxed lunch in the city before proceeding to Kigali International Airport for your return journey home, marking the end of your safari experience.
