An early morning drive to the Great Masai Mara National Reserve it remains one of the few destinations left where wild animals exist as they did in the primeval world of Africa. However, in the morning after breakfast, we prepare for a full day dame drive with lunch box. The reserve has a black manned lion, other residents and animals and it is one of the few areas where clients can spot the big five on a morning game drive. Most of the cheetahs are so friendly that they can actually seek shade under my car and several of them jump onto the roof for better view of the prospective prey. For the bird watcher, there are almost 500 Species of birds which includes 16 species of eagles, numbers of hawk and falcons, 6 species of vultures, 8 species of storks, 4 bustards including Kori bustard that is the world largest flying bird and 9 species of sunbirds.
Main Destination:
Lake Nakuru National Park
Because the park is at a relatively high altitude and there is no national park authority to regulate the park for tourism, the recommended time is between June and February when there is little rain and wildlife is most active.

A pick up in the wee hours of the morning to continue with the bird watching at Lake Nakuru National Park, this is found across the equator, around the Bogoria-south rift valley region. Famous for its flamingoes, it is an alkaline land and is ranked among the wonders of the natural world. The sanctuary is now home to over 40 black and over 60 white rhinas but without the flamingoes the view would not be the same. Sometimes there may be as many as 2 million flamingoes living in the residence, which is a solid rank of deep pink along the lake shore. Arrive early enough to have lunch then go for an afternoon game drive.

Transfer to Lake Naivasha in the afternoon and this is the highest and the most attractive of all the Rift Valley lakes. The next area that I could identify is Naivasha which is also famous for bird watching (over 400 bird species have been confirmed). It is also a favourite weekend destination for Nairobians who visit the place to engage in activities such as sailing, water skiing and fishing among others. No crocodiles though because the lake is too cold for them due to its altitude, despite the water possibly being warmer there are hippos. On the shores of the lake, the vineyards are established to grow grapes for the developing wine market in the country.

Yes, it is true that one is required to possess a visa when visiting Kenya as a tourist. Citizens of some countries are allowed to apply for eVisa in advance before entering the country while others can get a visa on arrival. It is always advisable to go through the specific requirements for entry into the country depending on your visa type much earlier. However, for your entry visa, you will need your valid passport with at least six months’ validity from the date of your planned entry to Kenya.
