We embark by road to Tsavo West National Park. This will be followed by lunch before you proceed on an optional afternoon or evening game drive. Tsavo West is probably the most popular sector of the Tsavo National Park with many sights to enjoy apart from observing animals in the wild. The first, and probably most known one, is Mzima Springs through which 227.3 million liters of cool, clean water gushes out of the ground through porous volcanic rocks. It is believed to be a water source from Chuyulu Hills passing through an underground river.

Other sites of geographical interest include the Roaring Rocks which is derived from the wind speed passing through the formation. From here there are fine views over Tsavo from the top of a 98m rock face: similar views can be had from Poachers Lookout. The Chaimu Crater is relatively young compared to others at less than 200years old and made up of black coke and can be climbed if desired. It is also a good area in which to hope to spot the klipspringer an antelope like creature as nimble as the swahili name ‘mbuzi mawe’ meaning mountain goat. Bordering this park is the Kenyan-Tanzanian border in the south west and here lies the Lake Jipe.

FAQs
This 9 days’ tour takes you through some of the most popular sanctuaries in Kenya; Maasai Mara, Lake Nakuru and Amboseli. This places offers so much wildlife and some of the big five that include lions, leopards, elephants, buffalos, and rhinos. The Maasai Mara is particularly famous for a high density of big cats, while in Amboseli it is possible to see a large number of elephants against the backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro. The absence of any activity at this park is also marked by the presence of Rhinos, which makes this safari ideal for viewing all the big five animals.
This tier of the safari provides accommodation in well-sought lodges and tented camps with affordable comfort with a touch of luxury. The lodges are located within or near those parks so that visitors can wake up to beautiful sights of the wilderness and might see wildlife from their rooms. The proximity to nature increases the probability of viewing the Big Five especially during early morning and in the evening as those times are most likely to have high wildlife activity.
The best time for this trip is during the dry seasons when there is a high concentration of game and the vegetation is low, these are during the dry seasons of June to October and January to February. As much as these occasions are cold, the grass is not very long, so you stand a better chance at seeing the Big Five. The other wonder is the great migration that is a movement of wildebeests from the/ph thiên Serengeti plains to the Maasai Mara which lasts from July to October; this a wonderful time to track lions and leopards as they hunt. Yet, one can also meet elephants, buffalos, rhinos and other wildlife during the green season in the national parks.
This safari involves several game drives in different national parks thus increasing the likelihood of encountering the Big Five. Mainly, you will do the early morning game drives and late in the afternoons because this is when most animals tend to be more active. In the Maasai Mara you may also have the choice of a full day of game viewing with lunch, this will enable you to penetrate deeper into the reserve in search of more game. The great variations of Amboseli, Lake Nakuru, and Maasai Mara offer different perspectives in every game drive of Kenya’s fascinating wildlife.
Yes! This safari is ideal for first time traveler looking for that amazing African experience. Such as affordable mid-range accommodations, a good mix of the itinerary, and experienced guide knowledge of the wildlife and parks. The selected parks offer good insights on the places where you get glimpses of the Big Five thus making the trip an intricate introduction to the breadth of Kenya’s wildlife. Also, the package involves having cultural interactions with the locals especially the Maasai, giving a cultural twist to the tour.
It will help you to pack to make the most out of your safari tour. Staple belongings should be lightweight, NEUTRAL Toned clothing to be worn during game drives, warm jacket during mornings and evenings, comfortable walking shoes and, a wide brimmed hat that will shield you from the scorching sun. Binocuars are useful especially when observing members of the big five from a distance while a good camera with a zoom lens will allow for taking photos of a lifetime. Other essentials include the sunscreen, insect repellent, and a reusable water bottle. Some lodges provide laundry services so it would better to pack light.
