The safari was absolutely incredible, and the organization of every detail was flawless. Unfortunately, our time at Shanti Maurice and in Mauritius was a complete disappointment and felt like a wasted part of our vacation. The staff at Shanti mentioned that July is when many guests from Saudi Arabia visit, and apparently, their behavior is disrespectful to others. As a gay couple, we faced some upsetting moments, including two men spitting on the ground near me, and the staff addressing us as Mr. and Mrs. Hedison, which was very uncomfortable. The weather wasn’t suitable for swimming, so we only tried it once, and the resort felt quite isolated. While the safari exceeded all expectations, our experience in Mauritius was so negative that we both agree it’s best to simply forget that part of the trip.
