FAQs
When participating in the 10-Day Wildlife, Big 5, Chimpanzee, and Gorilla Safari, you will be able to view various wildlife within Uganda’s choice national parks. Lions, elephants, buffalos, and leopards, the four Big Five are easily spotted in the park, and the park is also home to giraffes, hippos, crocodiles, and different types of antelopes. Kibale national park is well known for its chimps and other primates such as the colobus monkeys and the red tailed monkeys. While in Queen Elizabeth National Park, there are tree climbing lions, elephants and hippos. While Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is famous for the mountain gorillas, Kibale Forest National Park offers chimpanzees and multiplicity of other primates. It enriches the knowledge of the traveler with great chances to see birds and enjoy spectacular views along the way.
The 10-Day Wildlife, Big 5, Chimpanzee, and Gorilla Safari offers good chances to sight the four big game- lions, elephants, buffaloes, and leopards on the Murchison Falls and Queen Elizabeth National Park. The only missing wild animal is the rhinaceros which can be found in Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary commonly on route tour to Murchison Falls National Park. Hunters are likely to emerge successful because of the early experiences and the various areas where these animals are found. Nevertheless, like every other safari, seeing wildlife is all about fate, time and tiresomeness on the game viewing.
For you to undertake both the chimpanzee trekking in Kibale National Park and the gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in the 10-Day Wildlife, Big 5, Chimpanzee and Gorilla Safari you need specific permits. The chimpanzee tracking permit in Kibale costs about $200 while the gorilla tracking permit in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park costs about $700 per head. Obtaining these permits may be rather difficult since they are required when the demand is already high. They go a long way in supporting conservation and incentives promote the wellbeing of communities around these protected areas.
The activities such as chimpanzee and gorilla trekking on offer in the 10 Day Wildlife, Big 5, Chimpanzee and Gorillas involve moderate to strenuous physical exertion. Compared to, for example, the gorilla trekking, the chimpanzee tracking experience in the Kibale National Park is easier since the park’s terrains are relatively flat but it can still be challenging depending on the location of the chimpanzees. However, gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a bit more demanding as it entails trails at high altitudes with steep sections and may take between 2-6 hours. There are porters who can help with the luggage and accompany you on some very stiff tracks.
The best time for the 10 day wildlife, Big 5, chimps and gorilla tracking tour is when Uganda does not receive much rain which is between December to February and June to September. In these months, wildlife is best viewed since animals are concentrated around water sources, and there are better trekking conditions for the chimps and gorillas because most of the trails are less muddy. There are two rainy seasons from March to May, and from October to November and though it might be difficult to trek, the view is great and not much crowd. Uganda’s wildlife is however exceptional all year round irrespective of the season.
These are 10-Day Wildlife, Big 5, Chimpanzee, and Gorilla Safari which require packing appropriately depending on the terrains and activities to be undertaken. Lightweight dry casuals in non-contrasting colors for the actual game viewing, raincoats for times of the showers, comfortable waterproof walking shoes for the trekking activity and full length sleeved-shirts and trousers to protect from bites. Other requisites are a hat, sun lotion, insect repellent, binoculars to view wildlife, a good camera, a water bottle and a backpack. Gloves for gardening might be useful for holding on to vegetation and gaiters or long socks to shield the lower legs from insects.
