Currently, they are only estimated to be about 5,000 chimpanzees still alive in Uganda’s wilderness. There are several paths to trek and tour here for the experience of tracking chimpanzees and they are well trodden paths.
After tracking, you have the option of a guided tour through the Bigodi swamps. FAQs
The 10-Day Uganda Wildlife and Primates Tour gives you a memorable experience touring through Uganda’s beautiful terrains and wildlife. Among the big five you will have the opportunity to visit rhinos at Ziwa Rhino Ranch, lions at Murchison Falls, elephants, and buffalos in Queen Elizabeth’s National Park. The main attractive part of the tour includes visiting Bwindi Impenetrable National Park with a chance to track down mountain gorillas and Kibale National Park where people can meet chimpanzees. Other wildlife that can be found include Hippos, crocodiles, leopards and an amazingly large variety of birds.
The best time to go on the 10-Day Uganda Wildlife and Primates Safari Tour is in June – September and December – February when there are dry seasons. These are the best months to view wildlife since animals congregate around water sources, and the trails for gorilla and chimp trekking are relatively dry. But Uganda’s parks are always open all year round, and though it might be during rainy and greenery, the low season in Uganda actually happens during March to May and October to November.
The tourism activity of gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park within the context of the 10-Day Uganda Wildlife and Primates Safari Tour may be strenuous and does include climbing steep slopes and walking on slippery grounds. This process takes between 1-6 hours depending on the geographical location of the gorilla family you intend to visit. They advise moderate physical fitness, hiking shoes, and probably an umbrella or raincoat. Local porters are there to help in carrying personal effects and other accompanying items for the trek.
The 10 Days Uganda Wildlife and Primates Safari Tour comes with options for different accommodation standards ranging from budget, mid range to luxury. Accommodation will be in comfortable safari lodging, tented, or eco-lodges within the park or near the national park. The chosen lodges are comfortable, aesthetically beautiful, and conveniently positioned near wildlife to provide incredibly comfortable accommodation after daily activities.
A permit is needed for the gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, and chimpanzee tracking Kibale National Park in the 10 Day Uganda Wildlife and Primates Safari Tour. These include the gorilla trekking permits which is at $700 for foreign non residents and a chimpanzee trekking permit which is approximately $200. Some of these permits should be booked in advance since they are highly demanded. Most of the times, your tour operator sorts out this permit issue on your behalf as a package that comes with your safari.
When preparing for the 10-Day Uganda Wildlife and Primates Safari Tour, you should wear light and if possible dull coloured and breathable clothes, comfortable boots for trekking, a raincoat,INI repellent, sun cream and a hat. For the wildlife viewing, it is advisable to carry a pair of binoculars while a camera with a zoom lens would be ideal for capturing these experiences. Do not check in individual medication, a refillable drinking water bottle and a small backpack to carry belongings during hikes.
