The Best of South Africa and Mozambique Safari generally spans 9 to 14 days, offering a well-balanced pace that allows travelers to immerse themselves fully in both the safari experience and the coastal retreat. The first part of the trip focuses on early morning and late afternoon game drives to spot Africa’s iconic wildlife, while the second part offers slower, leisurely days along Mozambique’s turquoise shores, perfect for relaxation or optional activities.
During the Best of South Africa and Mozambique Safari, guests have excellent chances of encountering the Big Five—lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino—along with cheetah, giraffe, zebra, various antelope, and hundreds of bird species. While South Africa delivers classic safari sightings in its national parks and private reserves, Mozambique offers a different kind of wildlife with its rich marine biodiversity, including dolphins, turtles, whale sharks (in season), and vibrant coral reef fish.
The Best of South Africa and Mozambique Safari typically includes a mix of luxury safari lodges and upscale beachfront resorts. In South Africa, lodges are often situated in prime wildlife-viewing areas and feature private decks, en-suite bathrooms, and sometimes plunge pools. Mozambique’s beaches are warm and sunny year-round, but the dry months also mean calmer seas for diving and snorkeling. For those interested in marine life like humpback whales, visiting between June and September is ideal.
