2-Day Big 5 Safari from Cape Town, Intensive Max Time

Pick-up is at Lanseria Airport, about a 90-minute drive from Pilanesberg. Journey with our expert guide through one of the oldest mountain ranges in the world and past the world's richest platinum mines to the Pilanesberg Game Reserve, situated inside the remains of a 2 billion-year-old volcano. Pilanesberg has thousands of all the iconic animals of Africa, including the Big 5.

Our unique, private, extended 5-hour plus game drive in our 4x4 SUVs goes further into the park than the open safari vehicles. The lodge game drives are only 3 hours long and stop once at the waterholes and dams at the special viewing points, if at all. On the Mmilo extended drive, we get out and walk at these safe spots many times.

You can choose your preferred timing and choice on day 1 or day 2. Before checking in at a lodge, we will have lunch on the open dining terrace overlooking the game reserve and a nearby waterhole where animals come to drink. The game drive will continue until sunset/park closing.

Arise early and depart for Pilanesberg Reserve with a packed picnic breakfast supplied by the hotel for another magnificent day on safari. There are many viewpoints and hides next to the dams and water sources where you will stop to stretch your legs and have your picnic breakfast. View crocs and hippos in and out of the water, other animals coming to drink and many birds. It is all about giving you the maximum opportunity to have a memorable and enjoyable safari within your time frame. Our format with our private SUV and guide is the best way to do this. You cannot predict what animals you will see as this is a wild place, and the animals roam free. Of course, the big cats hunt everything.

You will have lunch and a rest in front of the waterhole, watching the animals come and go. After about 7 to 8 fruitful hours on safari in the Pilanesberg, you will depart the reserve at about 3:00 pm for Lanseria Airport.
