FAQs
A Tremisana/Tent Kruger Park Safari package typically includes guided game drives in open safari vehicles, accommodation in either the Tremisana Lodge or nearby tented camps, daily meals, and transfers from Johannesburg. Visitors experience both daytime and nighttime game drives in Balule Game Reserve, a part of Greater Kruger National Park, as well as a full-day safari in the Kruger National Park itself. Some packages may also include bush walks with armed rangers for a more immersive wildlife experience.
During the Tremisana/Tent Kruger Park Safari, guests can choose between staying in the Tremisana Game Lodge, which offers en-suite chalets with modern comforts, or the more rustic tented camps, which provide a close-to-nature experience with shared or private facilities. While the lodge offers amenities like air conditioning and a swimming pool, the tented camps focus on a more authentic bush experience under canvas, often with the sounds of the African wilderness right outside.
Game drives on the Tremisana/Tent Kruger Park Safari are led by experienced and knowledgeable rangers who guide guests in open 4×4 vehicles. These drives take place in both the private Balule Nature Reserve and the Kruger National Park. The safari includes early morning drives, which are ideal for spotting predators and other wildlife, and evening/night drives to see nocturnal animals. The drives typically last 2–4 hours and offer guests the chance to see the Big Five and many other species in their natural habitats.
The Tremisana/Tent Kruger Park Safari is family-friendly, though specific age restrictions may apply for certain activities like bush walks or night drives. The Tremisana Lodge is often more suitable for families with younger children, offering more structured accommodations and easier access to amenities. Tent safaris can be exciting for older children and teenagers who are eager for a more adventurous experience. Parents should always check with the tour operator regarding age policies and recommended activities for children
For the Tremisana/Tent Kruger Park Safari, it’s best to pack light, neutral-colored clothing suitable for warm days and cooler evenings. Essentials include a sun hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, comfortable walking shoes, a flashlight or headlamp, a reusable water bottle, and binoculars for wildlife viewing. Evenings can get chilly, especially in winter (May to August), so a warm jacket or fleece is recommended. Guests should also bring their camera gear and necessary chargers, as there are usually electricity points in the lodges and tents.
The Tremisana/Tent Kruger Park Safari includes round-trip transportation from Johannesburg, typically via a comfortable air-conditioned shuttle service. The journey takes approximately 6–7 hours and includes a few comfort stops along the way. Pickup and drop-off are usually arranged from major hotels or the OR Tambo International Airport. Alternatively, guests who prefer more flexibility can drive themselves or book a short domestic flight to Hoedspruit or Nelspruit, followed by a transfer to the lodge or tented camp.
