The Serengeti is renowned for its abundant wildlife, including the famous Big Five animals, named for being the most prized trophies for hunters.

Lion: The Serengeti is believed to have one of the largest populations of lions in Africa, with over 3,000 lions inhabiting the ecosystem due to the plentiful prey species.

African leopard: These elusive predators are commonly spotted in the Seronera region but are found throughout the national park. The population is estimated to be around 1,000.

The African elephant is also part of the Big Five. It's one of the most iconic animals in the Serengeti.

Today, the Serengeti National Park, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, and the Masai Mara National Reserve across the border in Kenya protect the greatest and most varied collection of terrestrial wildlife on earth, and one of the last great migratory systems still intact. The Serengeti is the jewel in the crown of Tanzania's protected areas, which altogether make up some 14% of the country's land area, a conservation record that few other countries can match.

Early breakfast will be followed by a game drive in the Ngorongoro Crater with a packed picnic lunch. In the afternoon, you'll drive back to Arusha and dropped off at the hotel that you booked on your own.
The jewel in Ngorongoro's crown is a deep, volcanic crater, the largest unflooded and unbroken caldera in the world. About 20 km across, 600 meters deep, and 300 sq km in area, the Ngorongoro Crater is a breathtaking natural wonder. You will visit Lake Magadi, a large but shallow alkaline lake in the southwestern corner, which is one of the main features of the crater A large number of flamingos, hippos, and other water birds can usually be seen here.
