Additional costs such as meals, local transportation on own, tipping, and all international flights are excluded.
When is the best time to start the 9-Day Experience the Ultimate (Great Migration) Safari depends on where in the migration circle that you wish to be. The major wildebeest migration through various parts of Tanzania including the Serengeti and the Mara is between June and October which is during the dry season. However, I find that the other season of the year, from November to May, is also very ideal for witnessing the migration and specifically the calving season which occurs during January to March in the southern Serengeti.
Throughout the 9-Day Experience the Ultimate (Great Migration) Safari, there is plenty of wildlife viewing as well as seeing the big 5, which is the lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo. You will also see the Great Migration herds that include; thousands of wildebeests, zebras, and gazelles. Some of the other animals you are most likely to come across are Cheetahs hyenas, giraffes, hippos, crocodiles and different species of birds. Every park in the suggested route has something to offer for the wildlife lover, from Tarangire’s elephants to the Serengeti plains teeming with predators.
The lodges that you’ll be staying in during the 9-Day Experience the Ultimate (Great Migration) Safari include lodges, tented camps, and luxury camps. These lodges are well placed to provide great comfort while at the same time provided guests what they want near the nature. Regardless of opting for a luxury lodge with all the comforts of home or a mobile camp in the Serengeti, all of the accommodations are great with very good food and atmosphere.
The 9-Day Experience the Ultimate (Great Migration) Safari tour is not a physically challenging package as most of the activities include, game viewing in fully equipped 4X4 safari vehicles. However, there may be other physical activities like mini hikes, visiting the waterfalls at Lake Natron or a cultural trip at Mto wa Mbu, which entails some moderate hiking. Some of the roads are quite rough, especially those in the plains of Serengeti and those who plan to tour the region should expect shaky road experiences. In summary, the safari entails moderate exercises making it pleasant for all users with no restriction to age and physical ability.
Before embarking on the 9-Day Experience the Ultimate (Great Migration) Safari, you should dress in light, loose-fitting clothes in earth tones; the appropriate headgear is the wide-brimmed hat; do not forget the sun-glasses and SPF 35 and above insect repellent. While binoculars and a good camera are beneficial to increase your chances of sighting wildlife. Make sure you have a pair of comfortable shoes for the other activities since they are optional. It is for this reason anyone planning to travel should seek advice from a travel doctor regarding yellow fever and malaria prophylaxis. Finally, make sure you have a visa if required for Tanzania and must have travel insurance.
