FAQs
This safari encompasses some of the greatest wildlife viewing destinations in both Kenya and Tanzania. In Kenya, you will be visiting Maasai Mara National Reserve which is famous for colossal plains and the movement of migratory animals. Mentioned safari destinations in Tanzania are such as Serengeti National Park with unlimited plains and huge numbers of animals, Ngorongoro Crater which is a world heritage site hosting many diverse species, and either Lake Manyara or Tarangire National Park where you enjoy great landscapes, tree-climbing lions and huge elephants.
The ideal time to go on this safari depends on what particular animals you are interested in seeing. This event occurs between July and October in Kenya and Serengeti, and the best way to see those millions of wildebeest and zebras cross the Mara River is in a hot air balloon. Overall, the two countries provide good wildlife watching every year round while the best time for game viewing especially around water sources is during the dry season commonly between June and October. The best time to visit is during the green season, which occurs between November and May since there are many birds during this time and some newborn animals.
A safari can be done in style and comfort in hotels, luxurious lodges and tented camps, or on a mid range or even budget. The accommodation options range from upmarket lodges with stunning views over the savannah plains to well-equipped tents which offer a true and authentic Kenyan safari. Tanzania tourist activities and lodging also vary from luxury lodges with magnificent views overlooking the Serengeti to luxury tent camps located deep in the wilderness. All of them include all the features one would expect from a contemporary home while enabling you to live in harmony with the environment.
This safari enables one to view the usually elusive Big Five which includes lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino among others. In Kenya’s Maasai Mara and Tanzania’s Serengeti plains you are likely to see giant herds of wildebeest, zebras and antelopes besides cheetahs, hyenas and giraffes. Some of the best places to see great herds of wildlife are in Ngorongoro Crater which has one of the highest concentration of wildlife in Africa, while Lake Manyara or Tarangire has tree-climbing lions, elephants, hippos and a lot of birding tourism, including flamingo.
The 4-by-four vehicles used in the safari are well-coordinated with desirable features like the pop up roof. The game drives in Kenya especially the Maasai mara are done in fully equipped jeeps that are customized for the activity. When transiting into Tanzania, you are able to disembark from your vehicle at the border and continue with a Tanzanian vehicle manned by guides from the country. It may also be possible to arrange for aerial transfers within the two countries if one wants to cut down on the traveling time.
To my knowledge, in order to visit both Kenya and Tanzania, visitors require visas for both countries. All travelers can also get their visa on arrival or apply for a visa before traveling online. Kenya has an eVisa system while Tanzania has an online visa application platform. If you are intending to visit both countries, there is the East African Tourist Visa which allows multiple entries between Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda within a period of not more than 90 days. This is also an excellent suggestion to heed, especially as visa requirements may change at the time of traveling.
