Wake up to a delicious breakfast and head to the park headquarters for a briefing on golden monkey trekking guidelines. At 8:00 am, set off into the bamboo-filled forests of Volcanoes National Park, where you’ll track the vibrant and playful golden monkeys. These endangered primates are unique to the Virunga region, and your trek offers an incredible opportunity to observe them in their natural habitat. Spend an hour with the golden monkeys, marveling at their agility and colorful features, before returning to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy some leisure time or opt for a cultural visit to the Gorilla Guardian Village for a glimpse into Rwandan traditions.

After an early breakfast, check out from your lodge and meet your driver-guide for the transfer to Uganda’s Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Depending on the route, cross the border through Katuna or Cyanika, taking in the breathtaking views along the way. Arrive at your lodge in Bwindi and enjoy a relaxed evening in preparation for your next adventure.

The trek, which can take between 2-6 hours depending on the gorillas’ location, takes you through lush tropical forests and rugged terrain. Once you locate your assigned gorilla family, you’ll spend an unforgettable hour observing their daily behaviors, from playful interactions to foraging and grooming. Capture this incredible experience on camera and cherish the rare moments spent in the presence of these gentle giants.

After the trek, return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation. Later in the afternoon, you can opt for a cultural visit to the Batwa pygmies’ community. Learn about the Batwa’s unique history as forest dwellers, hunters, and gatherers, and experience their rich traditions through song, dance, and storytelling. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
