Your driver-guide will pick you up from your designated address or from Kigali Airport and drive you to Volcanoes National Park, located in northern Rwanda near Ruhengeri (Musanze).

After a briefing at Kinigi Park Headquarters, you will begin your golden monkey tracking experience in Volcanoes National Park. The activity starts at 7:00 am as you head into the forest in search of these endangered primates.

The trek lasts about 4 hours, including one magical hour observing the golden monkeys as they play, roll on bamboo stems, and interact in their natural habitat. You will also notice their distinctive silver patch and reduced shyness due to habituation.

After the experience, you will transfer to the gorilla region of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda. The scenic drive passes through tropical rainforests and the terraced hills of the Kigezi highlands, often referred to as the “Switzerland of East Africa.”

Upon arrival, check in at your lodge, relax, enjoy dinner, and prepare for your next day’s gorilla trekking adventure.

Enjoy an early breakfast before proceeding to the briefing point for the highlight of your journey—gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

The trek can last between 2 to 6 hours depending on the location of the gorilla family. You will hike through dense rainforest and bamboo-covered slopes, guided by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers and trackers in search of a habituated gorilla group.

Although the trek can be physically demanding, the moment you encounter the magnificent silverback makes the effort worthwhile. You will carry a packed lunch since the timing of the trek is unpredictable.

After the experience, you will return and begin your journey back to Kigali, where you will be dropped off at your hotel or Kigali International Airport for your departure.
