Shaba National Reserve is a special trio of reserves located in Kenya. Named after the extinct Mount Shaba (1525 metres) that stands on its border, this desert of ancient volcanic earth hides a unique secret - Sarova Shaba Game Lodge. This has become known as one of Kenya's most coveted and lesser-known destinations.
This customized private tour is perfect for those travelling solo. Starting on any available day, this mid-range journey includes stays in lodges and the chance to take part in wildlife viewing activities, although these will be shared with others. A minimum age of 18 years is required for this tour.
Exploring the vistas of Africa by way of game drives is made possible through an open-sided 4x4 vehicle. To get from one destination to another, air transfer is offered in conjunction with the use of the multi-terrain vehicle. For convenient travel, a round-trip transfer from the airport is provided.
Begin your journey by flying to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) in Nairobi. Included in the tour is a round-trip transfer to and from the airport, so you don't have to worry about transportation! For added convenience, you may book your own international flights when using this operator help. If you wish, you can also arrange additional accommodation before and after the tour for an extra cost. Once everything is arranged, you will start and end your journey in the beautiful city of Nairobi.
You will be picked up from your accommodation in Nairobi and transferred to Wilson Airport for your flight to Samburu. Departure times are either at 0830hrs or 0915hrs, with arrival at Kalama or Samburu Airport in Samburu expected around 0955hrs or 1045hrs. Upon arrival, a hotel representative will be ready to escort you to the Sarova Shaba Game Lodge, a magnificent luxury retreat nestled along the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River.
The day commences with an early morning call, signaling the start of an exceptional game drive. Encounter a variety of wildlife, including elephants, buffaloes, lions, leopards, and other distinctive species. Following the exhilarating drive, enjoy an al fresco breakfast accompanied by bubbly, set against the picturesque backdrop along the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River. Guided nature walks are available with the naturalist, or alternatively, indulge in a range of lodge activities, from table tennis, badminton, and water volleyball to darts and board games. In the afternoon, embark on another game drive, capturing views of the Northern Frontier District desert, and savor the entertainment of traditional Samburu music and dance during dinner service.
