After enjoying your morning meal, prepare to explore the wonders of Mkomazi National Park. Situated adjacent to the majestic Mount Kilimanjaro in the northwest and the picturesque Pare and Usambara Mountains to the south, it shares borders with the expansive Tsavo National Park of Kenya. During the wet season, herds of elephants, oryx, and zebras migrate between the two parks, rendering it one of the largest and most significant protected ecosystems globally. Moreover, Mkomazi National Park houses a black rhinoceros sanctuary and a captive-breeding program for the endangered African wild dog, both of which are rare sightings.
Among the park's diverse inhabitants are giraffes, elands, hartebeests, zebras, buffalos, elephants, and the distinctive long-necked gerenuk. Birdwatchers will delight in spotting over 450 species of birds, including endemics like the cobalt-chested vulturine guinea-fowl, as well as large ground birds such as ostriches, kori bustards, secretary birds, and ground hornbills.
Start your day by being picked up from your hotel in Moshi at 07:30 am. You'll embark on a 200-kilometer journey on a tarmac road to Tarangire National Park, which sprawls across 2,850 square kilometers or 1,005 square miles.
Once there, immerse yourself in thrilling game drives and indulge in a picnic lunch amidst the park's diverse wildlife, including lions, leopards, elephants, buffalos, pythons, zebras, oryx, impalas, and over 450 species of birds. After a fulfilling day of exploration, retire for the night at a lodge or camping ground.
Start your day by rising early and indulging in a nourishing breakfast. By 7:30 AM, make your way to Ngorongoro to begin your descent into its magnificent crater. Spanning 19.2 kilometers in diameter and plunging 610 meters deep, this vast expanse of 304 square kilometers shelters a breathtaking array of wildlife, including black rhinos, elephants, zebras, wildebeests, buffalos, and impalas.
Remarkably, an estimated 25,000 diverse animals call this place home! Among them, the carnivore community boasts lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, and various small cats. Following a delightful picnic lunch at Ngoitoktok Swamp, which hosts a thriving hippo pool, spend the afternoon engaged in game viewing as you ascend from the crater. Conclude your day with a satisfying dinner and overnight accommodations at a lodge or campsite.
At 7:00 AM, the day commences with a hearty breakfast. Following that, departing from the Lodge at 8:00 AM, you will embark on a journey along the tarmac road, covering 60 kilometers, while bringing along your packed lunch to Lake Manyara National Park. Spanning 330 square kilometers or 127 square miles, this park nestles in the foothills of the Great Rift Valley. It boasts a diverse range of wildlife including lions, hippos, elephants, zebras, buffalos, giraffes, baboons, blue and vervet monkeys, warthogs, and many others. Moreover, the park's rich flora and fauna sustain 350 species of birds. The park's five distinct vegetation zones promise a one-of-a-kind experience. Notably, the park is renowned for its vast flocks of flamingos. While canoeing is an available activity within the park, it does incur an additional cost. As the day draws to a close, you will be either dropped off at the airport in Arusha or returned to the Lodge.
