Our adventure begins in the heart of Budongo Forest, where we'll embark on an unforgettable trek through the lush greenery in search of the elusive chimpanzees. With six habituated chimp families calling this ancient forest home, sightings are virtually guaranteed, offering a rare glimpse into the lives of these intelligent and social primates. Follow experienced guides as they lead you through dense jungle trails, listening for the telltale calls of the chimps echoing through the trees.
From Budongo Forest, our journey continues to the iconic Murchison Falls National Park, where we'll marvel at the breathtaking beauty of the mighty Nile River as it plunges over the edge of a dramatic escarpment. Enjoy top-down views of the falls from various vantage points, capturing unforgettable moments against the backdrop of sweeping vistas and cascading water. Then, embark on a leisurely boat ride up the river, where you'll encounter a variety of wildlife, including hippos, crocodiles, and a myriad of bird species.
But the adventure doesn't end there. As we traverse the game drives of both Murchison Falls and Kidepo Valley National Parks, keep your eyes peeled for sightings of lions, elephants, giraffes, and more, against the backdrop of stunning savannah landscapes. Finally, conclude your journey with an exhilarating rhino tracking experience at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, where you'll have the opportunity to observe these majestic creatures up close in their natural habitat.

Your driver guide will pick you up from your hotel and take you north to Budongo Forest Reserve. On the journey, you will receive all the information about your trip. When you arrive at Pabidi, you can get lunch at any restaurant of your preference to prepare for chimpanzee tracking. As you track, you will be accompanied by wildlife experts who are knowledgeable in these animals. During the expedition, you may spot various tree species like mahogany, various kinds of monkeys like vervet and olive ones and also snakes and birds. Afterwards, you'll explore Murchison Falls where you'll get to witness the impressive sight of Victoria Nile squeezing through a narrow crevice before cascading 43 meters deep. The first day of the excursion ends with you heading to Paraa and an overnight stay at Red Chilli Hideaway.
Rise early and have breakfast before embarking on the game drive. During the tour, you may observe lions, buffaloes, giraffes, elephants, antelopes, waterbucks and a variety of birds. After the safari excursion at 11:40 am, return to the lodge for lunch and a rest before departing for the afternoon boat cruise.
On the boat, you will encounter Nile crocodiles, hippos, buffaloes and elephants along the edge of the Nile in addition to a multitude of colorful birds, such as bee-eaters, kingfishers and shoe billed storks. The boat ride will end upon reaching Murchison Falls. There, you can either opt to climb to the top or continue to the pre-arranged destination, Fort Murchison Tent Budget, where you will spend the night. An up-close view of the magnificent waterfalls awaits at the summit.
After a hearty breakfast, embark on your journey towards Kidepo Valley National Park. If possible, start the tour with an evening game drive. Kidepo Valley National Park provides a unique opportunity for wildlife viewing, offering species that can't be found anywhere else in Uganda. This park is still untouched and has plenty to offer visitors. Apoka Uwa Bandas Budget hosts your overnight stay.
After breakfast, we will be on our way to Kidepo Valley National Park for a two to three hour game drive in the morning. Our mission is to find lions, cheetahs, and leopards. When the morning game drive is done, we will be returning to the banda/lodge for some more breakfast before taking some time out to relax. In the afternoon, we will go on a cultural trail to Karamojong and continue the game drive adventure with lots of wildlife. Finally, we will be staying overnight at Apoka Uwa Bandas Budget.
Upon awakening in the morning, we will take off for a final, two or three hour game drive in Kidepo Valley National Park, which will give us another opportunity to observe lions, cheetahs, and leopards. After that excursion, we will set off for Gulu, the largest town in northern Uganda, an area that experienced considerable suffering during the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) conflict. Gulu is a charming place, with a laid-back atmosphere and great places to hang out. At day’s end, we will stay at Acholi Inn overnight.
Meals & Drinks:
After enjoying a hearty breakfast, we will set off on the voyage to Kampala/Entebbe. Our first stop will be Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, where you can observe these beautiful animals in their natural habitat. Next, we will continue onwards to Kampala/Entebbe, and thus conclude your 6-Day Kidepo Valley National Park & Murchison Falls National Park Budget Tour. At the end of the journey, your guide/driver will drop you at your desired destination in Kampala or Entebbe. Alternatively, if you are leaving the country, they can drop you off at the airport in time for your departure flight.
