6-Day Safari, Lake Eyasi and Lake Natron

We will pick you up at your hotel at around 8:00 am to deliver a short safari info briefing. We will then depart to Tarangire National Park (the drive will take 2 hours at most). This exceptional park, just south of Lake Manyara in the northern region of Tanzania, is famous for its diverse landscape characterized by the abundance of ancient baobab trees and its vast herds of elephants.

In fact, the park has the largest concentration of elephants in the whole country and provides unique chances to observe them up close, something that should not be missed. Big cat sightings are frequent and in the dry season, the Tarangire River is an important water source that makes it the perfect place to spot wildlife. Lunch will be taken at a picnic place with an amazing view of the Tarangire River and after more game viewing in the Park, you will be driven to your accommodation for dinner and overnight.

The Tarangire National Park is located south of Lake Manyara. The river from which the park takes its name, is the primary source of water for the local wildlife. It is the perfect place to spot large concentrations of animals like elephant (the largest concentration in the country), wildebeest, and zebra.

Big cats are also frequent in the dry season, and the abundance of baobab trees will surely make it possible for you to collect amazing African postcards. Lunch will take place at a picnic place overlooking the Tarangire River, and after the full day game drive, you will be driven to your accommodation for dinner and overnight.

Your full-day game drive in Lake Manyara will start early in the morning. Located southwest of Arusha, Lake Manyara, despite its relatively small area, is a real shrine to natural life. Possessing a diverse flora that includes over 670 species of flowering plants and ferns as well as dense forests of acacias and giant figs, the park is also home to a vibrant fauna. They include large populations of wildebeest, zebra and gazelle, hippo, tree-climbing lion, cheetah, and more than 350 species of birds. The massive flocks of flamingoes that feed there during the wet season are the most famous. The tour includes a stop for lunch and will then resume, After full day game drive you will be driven back to your accommodation for dinner and overnight.

Lake Eyasi is home to about 1,000 tribesmen living almost the same way as our ancestors in the Stone Age, and who relies fully on hunting and gathering for their upkeep. You will start your tour getting to know the Datoga blacksmiths that work in a very primitive environment to make jewellery. Their most important works are weapons such as arrowheads and knives, which they trade with the Hadzabe in exchange for their daily catch (antelopes, gazelles and birds as well as fruits, roots and honey from the baobab trees).

After lunch, you will have the opportunity to enjoy a nice walk around Lake Eyasi, a seasonally shallow, salted lake on the floor of the Great Rift Valley. You will then be driven to the camp in time for a magical sunset.

This day you will have early morning hunting with Hadzabe people then return to your camp for breakfast, after breakfast you will start driving to Lake Natron with your packed lunch. Lake Natron is located in the arid and beautiful Rift Valley. This alkaline lake is inhospitable to most wildlife apart from flocks of flamingos that rise above the water in a rosy formation. In fact, the lake is the primary breeding ground for lesser flamingos in East Africa, with more than 2 million individual birds gathering in the area every year. After lunch, you will be able to enjoy a nice walk around the lake and view the magical sunset. We suggest an early dinner and ample rest at the camp.

East Africa has 1.5 to 2.5 million lesser flamingos, representing 3 quarters of the world population, and most of them are hatched at Lake Natron. Food is plentiful, nesting sites abound, and above all, the lake is isolated and undisturbed. The lake and its ecosystem provide a source of livelihood to the local communities. Activities include walks around the lake and to the streams and waterfalls along the nearby escarpment. This makes for a fantastic adventure off-the-beaten-track. We will drop you off at a place of your choice in Arusha.
