Best Lodges & Camps to Stay Around Sossusvlei

Sossusvlei safari packages

Sossusvlei, a town in the heart of Namibia’s desert region, is a place you must visit. It is Namibia’s most popular tourist destination and has been on my bucket list for years. If you want to get away from all the crowds and enjoy solitude, this might be one of your best choices.

Touching the sands bordering the Namib Desert in Southern Namibia, Sossusvlei is an ancient pan that continues to be littered by dunes shifting. Namib is the driest desert in Africa, with soft, red sand coloring the landscape. The desert is bordered by massive orange dunes, among the giant dunes on Earth.

The best way to enjoy this majestic landscape is to spend some time exploring it. There are many campsites for camping enthusiasts. Those with money to spend can opt for luxury hotels or lodges. Camping is a fun way to explore the desert, and it’s also an activity that has been around since ancient times. It can be done at least once in your lifetime if you love nature and want to experience something different from what other people do all day (i.e., work). If you’re interested in staying near Sossusvlei National Park, then consider booking one of these lodges or campsites below.

Sossusvlei Lodge

The Sossusvlei Lodge is located in the heart of the Namib desert, just outside Sossusvlei. It’s a popular stop for travelers who want to see some genuinely wild scenery and enjoy some activities beyond hiking or camping.

The lodge has a swimming pool, spa, and restaurant on site. There are also lounges with TVs where you can relax after a day out exploring! There’s even an outdoor game viewing deck where you can watch animals darting across your path as they graze nearby in their natural habitat.

Desert Quiver Camp

The Desert Quiver Camp is near the Sesriem Canyon, one of Africa’s most beautiful canyons. It also offers night sky viewing platforms, guided safaris to the NamibRand Nature Reserve, and more.

Kulala Desert Lodge

Kulala Desert Lodge is located in the Sossusvlei area and offers a range of accommodation options. One can book through their website, or you can contact them directly by phone or email.

The lodge has five rooms available, each with its specific features:

  • Suite – With three bedrooms and two private bathrooms (one en suite), this room is perfect for families or larger groups who want privacy but still want to socialize as much as possible.
  • Twin – Perfect for those looking for somewhere quieter than the suite above but still have enough space for everyone to be comfortable without being cramped up in one room together! This option also comes with an extra bed, so even if you’re traveling alone large group, this could work well too!
  • Superior Double Room – If you’re looking for something slightly more affordable than either of these options, then this would be worth considering, too; though again, it may not suit everyone’s needs perfectly due to its smaller size compared to some other lodges around here (such as Green Monkey Camps).

Little Kulala

Little Kulala is a small family-run camp located in the heart of the Namib Desert. It is a great place to relax and enjoy the desert. The camp has a maximum capacity of 12 guests, and it’s perfect for couples or families with children who want to experience traditional desert life.

The location allows you to explore Sossusvlei dunes or other attractions such as Deadvlei (a large salt pan), Brandberg Mountain Range, and Swakopmund Town Square.

The views from Little Kulala are stunning! The surrounding area offers stunning views of Sossusvlei dunes, Brandberg Mountain Range, and Swakopmund Town Square.

Wolwedans Dune Camp

Wolwedans Dune Camp is a luxury lodge with views of the Sossusvlei dunes. It’s located in Namib Naukluft Park, and it’s a member of the Responsible Tourism Institute. The rustic-style lodge has five rooms with en suite bathrooms, and each room comes with its outdoor deck or terrace.
