Top 5 Best Tanzania Family Safaris & Tours

Tanzania Family Safaris & Tours

Explore the best Tanzania family safaris with our guide. Discover family-friendly accommodations, wildlife experiences, and activities tailored to create unforgettable safari adventures in East Africa.

Tanzania is an excellent place for a family safari. I’m not just saying that because we’re all related, but also because it’s true! There are so many different things to do in Tanzania that you can spend weeks exploring the country and still not see everything. If you’re looking for something off-the-beaten path—or want some downtime from all the tourist attractions—then Tanzania is your destination. Here are some of our favorite family-friendly activities:

Trekking to The Top of Mount Kilimanjaro

mount kenya mount kilimanjaro climb

Kilimanjaro’s summit is the highest point in Africa, and it’s challenging to reach. You’ll need to hike through the rainforest on your way up and trek through the alpine desert on your way down. Your trip takes five days and four nights, although you can cut out some of these times by taking shorter hikes or staying overnight at campsites along the way.

Once you’ve reached the top (or just before), you’ll be rewarded with incredible views of Mount Kilimanjaro—and perhaps even spot some wildlife.

Exploring the Ngorongoro Crater

Ngorongoro jk

Ngorongoro Crater is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to many animals, including black rhinos, elephants, lions, and leopards. The crater has various landscapes, including savannahs, forests, and lakes, making it an ideal place for safaris. It also has more than 200 bird species you can see on your tour!

This crater was formed by volcanic eruptions hundreds of thousands of years ago. Over time, wind erosion has eroded into its current shape, making it look like an upside-down bowl cut from above ground level down into its base, where several streams flow out from this area towards Lake Natron.

Going on a Hot Air Balloon Ride Over The Serengeti

Hot air balloon safaris are a great way to see the Serengeti. They’re perfect for first-time visitors and an excellent way to see the park while avoiding its more dangerous activities, like hiking or swimming.

The balloons rise into the sky and float back down again, giving you a fantastic view of everything below you (and sometimes even above!). You’ll get to know some of your fellow passengers on this journey—they may be locals who live in Tanzania or tourists like yourself who are visiting for their first time.

Off-roading in Tarangire National Park

Tarangire Swala Camp

Tarangire National Park is a great place to see wildlife. Many animals are in the park, including elephants and lions, and bird species like the pale-eyed antbird. Tarangire National Park is also home to one of Tanzania’s largest populations of black rhinoceros.

You can go on safari here.

Chilling 0ut in Zanzibar

Tanzania has some of the most beautiful beaches in Africa. They’re not just for tourists, and you can visit them too! You don’t need to go on safari to chill out on a beach or explore an island—you can do both at once with these tours.

  • Beach holidays in Zanzibar
  • Canoeing around Lake Victoria and its islands (Tanzania)

Tanzania is an excellent place for a family safari. It has a lot to offer, and you can do much together, from hiking and swimming in the Langtang Valley to visiting animatronic animals at the Serengeti National Park. In addition, Tanzania is safe for children if they want to participate in activities such as visiting orphanages or participating in community service projects.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Tanzania offers an exceptional array of family-friendly safari experiences that cater to all ages and interests. From the vast plains of the Serengeti to the stunning landscapes of Ngorongoro Crater and beyond, these safaris provide not only opportunities to witness iconic wildlife like lions and elephants but also to immerse oneself in the rich culture and natural beauty of East Africa. Family-friendly accommodations and expert guides ensure safety, comfort, and memorable experiences, whether enjoying game drives, cultural visits to local communities, or educational nature walks. Tanzania’s commitment to conservation and sustainable tourism ensures that every family safari leaves a positive impact while creating lifelong memories of adventure and discovery in the heart of Africa..
