2-Day Akagera Wildlife Safari – Big Five & Sunset Boat

Your adventure begins with a morning pickup from your hotel in Kigali at around 7:00 AM, followed by a scenic 2.5-hour drive to Akagera National Park. Along the way, take in Rwanda’s beautiful countryside of rolling hills and rural landscapes.

Upon arrival, check in at the park gate and begin a short introductory game drive through the southern sector. Here, you may spot zebras, antelopes, buffaloes, baboons, and giraffes roaming across the savannah.

In the late afternoon, head to Lake Ihema for a relaxing sunset boat safari. This is a perfect opportunity to see hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of water birds, all set against a stunning African sunset.

After the boat ride, transfer to your lodge inside or near the park for dinner and an overnight stay.

After an early breakfast, set off on a full-day game drive across Akagera National Park, exploring from the southern plains to the northern sector. Traverse a variety of landscapes—open savannah, woodlands, swamps, and lakes—each offering unique wildlife encounters.

With a bit of luck, you may spot lions, elephants, rhinos, and a wide range of antelope species along the way. Pause midday for a picnic lunch in the heart of the park, surrounded by nature.

In the afternoon, exit through the northern gate and begin your return journey to Kigali, arriving in the early evening for drop-off at your hotel or residence.
