This short wildlife safari takes you northeast of Addis Ababa to the remarkable Awash National Park, located about 253 km within the Ethiopian Great Rift Valley.
Awash National Park is a rich wildlife destination known for its diverse ecosystems and incredible biodiversity. The park is home to more than 460 bird species, making it a paradise for birdwatchers, along with a wide range of mammals adapted to the dry savannah and riverine habitats.
Among the wildlife you may encounter are Beisa oryx, desert warthogs, Soemmerring’s gazelles, lesser kudu, hamadryas and olive baboons, grivet monkeys, Abyssinian hares, Salt’s dik-diks, as well as predators like spotted hyenas, aardwolves, bat-eared foxes, and golden jackals. These species make Awash one of the most rewarding safari experiences close to the capital.
