After breakfast, your taxi awaits you to take you on a short drive to Zanzibar Airport from where you fly to Arusha. The flight is an easy one, taking a bit over one hour. Arusha is the safari capital of the country and a bustling ‘tourism-driven' city. You will be met by your driver guide at Arusha Airport and together, you will begin the transfer to Tarangire National Park to start your private safari game drive. The name of the park originates from the Tarangire River, which crosses the park and is the main source of fresh water for wildlife. This quiet park is famous for its elephant migration, birdlife, and authentic safari atmosphere. You will enjoy a packed lunch at midday and at the end of the afternoon’s game drive, you will make your way to Africa Safari Lake Manyara. On arrival, you will have time to refresh before finishing the day with dinner under the stars and a good night’s sleep in one of our comfy canvas accommodations.

Be sure to wake up early today, so there is no delay on your descent into the famous Ngorongoro Crater. As soon as you arrive in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, you will be amazed by the beauty around you. Even more so when you arrive at the edge of the crater and take in the amazing view over one of the Natural Wonders of this World. The crater of this inactive volcano is approximately 3 million years old, 20 sq km in size, and the largest unbroken volcanic caldera in the world. Due to its natural borders, the wildlife in the crater is amazing. The crater is home to the Big Five and offers a good chance to spot the rare black rhinos. Throw hyenas, zebras, buffaloes, and elephants into the mix, and you have the perfect canvas for a pretty awesome safari experience. At the end of the afternoon, you will go to the next lodge, Africa Safari South Serengeti, for a well-deserved night’s sleep.

Today, you will have a long and rewarding drive ahead of you, as you make your way through Serengeti National Park. Depending on the movement of the migration, you might even make your way further north while the plains disappear behind you to give way to forests of acacia trees and dense bush. This northern section of the Serengeti is less frequented than the southern and central parts of the Serengeti, allowing for fewer cars on the road and a more ‘exclusive’ safari experience. At the end of the day, you will leave the park through Klein’s gate and after a few kilometres find another surprise, Maasai culture in its full glory. You will spend the night at Africa Safari Maasai Boma in a modern-style version of a traditional Maasai earth house with an en-suite bathroom and king-size bed.

Along the drive, you will be able to spot giraffes, zebras, and other animals. Prepare to be amazed when you catch your first glimpse of the endless plains of the Serengeti.

Perhaps you will even get a glimpse of the famous Mount Kilimanjaro, as the plane stops briefly in Arusha. FAQs
A game drive is a guided wildlife viewing excursion in a 4×4 safari vehicle, typically through Tanzania’s national parks and game reserves such as Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, or Tarangire. You can expect to see a variety of animals including the Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, rhino), as well as cheetahs, zebras, giraffes, wildebeests, and many bird species. Morning and evening drives are most popular for spotting active wildlife.
The best time is during the dry season from June to October. This is ideal for game viewing as animals gather around water sources, and vegetation is less dense. For beach holidays, especially on Zanzibar, these months offer sunny weather and calm seas, perfect for swimming, snorkeling, and relaxing.
Yes, combining a safari with a beach holiday is a popular travel plan in Tanzania. After a few days exploring wildlife in parks like Serengeti or Ngorongoro, you can fly to Zanzibar or Mafia Island for a relaxing beach stay. Many tour operators offer seamless packages that include both experiences, with domestic flights included.
Pack neutral-colored, lightweight clothing for the safari, a hat, sunscreen, binoculars, and insect repellent. Bring a jacket or fleece for chilly mornings. For the beach, pack swimwear, flip-flops, light clothes, and reef-safe sunscreen. Don’t forget your camera, chargers, and any necessary medications.
