Solio Game Reserve is the oldest private rhino sanctuary in Kenya, established on a former cattle ranch in 1970. Originally designed to breed critically endangered black rhinos, an additional white rhino breeding program was added later. Rhinos from the reserve are often relocated to other protected areas within Kenya. With more than 45 black rhinos and 185 white rhinos, visitors can expect to spot large herds of white rhinos on the plain, many of which have striking horns. Black rhinos tend to be more timid and are just as easy to find. Their presence among buffalo, lions, zebras, cheetahs, giraffes, leopards, elands, oryx, impalas, waterbucks, Thomson's gazelles, and warthogs makes the Moyo River and its acacia-lined banks an ideal habitat, with plentiful birdlife.

Join a ceremonial slaughter of a goat in accordance to "Olpul" tradition; experience tales and blessings around the campfire while savouring the special concoction brewed only for special occasions using aloe root, honey, and herbs.

Spend the evening in the backwoods camp, snuggled up on the natural bedding of leaves beneath the night sky with sleeping bags (supplied) and the protection of native guards throughout the night.
