Activities: game drives, chimpanzee trekking, walking safaris (with an armed guide) & boat trip
Fly into Tanzania's Kilimanjaro Airport, a compact, welcoming airport where you can get your visa upon arrival. In the international arrivals area, a local representative will meet you and drive you in a private vehicle to the Arusha Coffee Lodge, where you will spend the night. Your day is left free for you to relax or explore after the journey, which normally lasts about 1.5 hours.
Arusha Coffee Lodge is a stunning refuge that is tucked away on the outskirts of the city amid one of Tanzania's biggest coffee estates. The lodge is located on the undulating slopes under the shadow of Mount Meru, and you may have the finest morning brews there.
There is a swimming pool, garden terrace, and miles of lush plantation to explore at the lodge, which was built around the early 1900s home of the original landowner.
Main Destination is Arusha.
Enjoy a leisurely morning before arranging to meet your driver at the resort. He or she will transport you to Arusha City Airport, where your planned light aircraft flight will depart from (Arusha City Airport is just five minutes away).
When your plane lands at Katavi's Ikuu Airstrip, a local representative will greet you and transport you to Chada Katavi Camp, where you will spend the following four nights. Your stay at Chada Katavi is all-inclusive and includes all national park and conservation fees, full board meals, all drinks (excluding champagne and fine wines), laundry service, and shared safari activities (game drives and walking safaris).
A luxurious temporary tent alternative in Katavi National Park is Chada Katavi Camp. With six opulent tented suites, the camp is incredibly cozy and fashionable. It is also tastefully managed and effectively led.
Main Destination: Katavi National Park
The wildlife is fantastic in Katavi National Park, but it's the area's isolation and incredibly low tourist density that make Katavi one of the safari enthusiast's holy grails. Katavi is a very large and important national park, covering over 4,500 square kilometers. It claims to have the highest bio-density of any national park in Africa and is the third largest in the nation after Ruaha and Serengeti.
The primary areas of interest are a number of spectacular floodplain habitats that transform into lovely expansive wetlands during the green rainy season from December to May and open grasslands during the dry season from June to November. The area is mostly covered with dense brachystegia woods.
Additionally available are night game drives and fly camping, but be aware that these extras come at an additional fee. If you are interested in booking one of these extra activities in advance, kindly let us know. It is very important to remember that fly camping requires advance reservation.
Main Destination: Katavi National Park
Before leaving Chada Katavi Camp, take one more morning game drive or savor a leisurely breakfast. Before your scheduled light aircraft flight to Mahale Mountains National Park, you will be taken to Ikuu Airstrip. After that, you'll take a 1.5-hour boat ride with on-board snacks to go to Greystoke Mahale Camp, where you'll spend the following three nights.
The sense of adventure one experiences when visiting this park is substantially increased by its extreme isolation. It is quite extraordinary to land at a remote lakeside airstrip and then travel for an additional hour and a half by boat along this magical lake.
You will have an all-inclusive stay at Greystoke Mahale, which includes all national park and conservation fees, full board meals, all drinks (excluding champagne and fine wines), laundry service, and shared activities like chimp trekking, boat cruises, deep water swims, forest walks, and village visits.
In Mahale Mountain National Park, you'll spend two full days on safari with Greystoke Mahale Camp, a luxurious permanent lodge in a prime beachfront location. The six guest apartments at Greystoke Mahale must be reserved well in advance due to the camp's attractive aesthetic, ideal location, wonderful hosts, and knowledgeable guides.
Chimpanzee tracking in the Mahale Mountains National Park is one of Africa's most unique experiences. Because they are omnivores and frequently move quickly through the forest on hunts, chimpanzees are immensely fascinating to watch. They will gather at intervals to scream and shout with each other in the most wonderful ways. It is a profoundly poignant experience to turn a corner and find yourself in a small clearing with chimpanzees sitting and watching you.
For chimp trekking, visitors must be at least 12 years old and reasonably fit.
We must bid you adieu this morning. You will take a boat ride back to the Mahale Airstrip after checking out of Greystoke Mahale Camp and packing a picnic lunch, in order to make your light aircraft flight to Kilimanjaro Airport. After that, you'll board your international aircraft back to your native country.
Even though your fantastic Western Tanzania Safari has come to an end, you'll return home with plenty of special memories, images, and anecdotes to tell.
We're confident you'll fall in love with Tanzania and the African continent after nine exhilarating days of wildlife encounters and breathtaking natural treasures in some of the most isolated regions on the planet. What will your next move be?
