Tour Plan

Day 01 Arrive in Nairobi & Explore the City

Greetings! On arriving at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, you will be promptly taken to your lodgings by your driver and an informed guide who will explain the details of your journey. Following a brief respite, your driver is available to take you exploring the vibrant city. Enjoy your visit to Kenya!

If you're looking for unique experiences in Nairobi, you can't go wrong with a visit to famous markets, restaurants, and cafes that offer traditional and regional cuisine. Explore the many religious sites such as The Holy Family Minor Basilica and Jamia Mosque. Don't forget to take a walk through Uhuru Park before heading back to your lodgings.

Day 02 Travel to the Maasai Mara National Reserve

After you eat breakfast, you'll enjoy a six hour car ride to the Maasai Mara National Reserve. Upon arrival, you'll be able to find your lodging, kick back and have lunch. Later, explore the amenities of your new home and take it easy for the night. The next day, take a closer look at the wildlife near the Mara River.

Every year, in the Maasai Mara National Reserve, nearly two million wildebeest, zebra and other antelope brave the treacherous Mara River, which is teeming with dangerous crocodiles. This daunting journey is made in pursuit of richer pasturelands and increased rainfall. There is no other wildlife migration quite like The Great Migration, with the exception of smaller birds and butterflies.

Day 03 Observe the Zebra and Wildebeest in Masai Mara

Today you will join a qualified guide and observe The Great Migration across the Mara River, which features the blue wildebeest - so called because of its glossy coat that shines a blue hue in the sunlight. Additionally, it is not uncommon to hear local tribes and residents refer to the species as "gnu." This name originates from an onomatopoeic term describing the sound this creature makes.

A dynamic relationship between zebra and wildebeest of the Masai Mara and Serengeti is critical for survival, as the latter are selective grazers and require the former to act as a lawnmower. Zebra are bulk grazers and can reach the lower parts of the grass, providing a source of sustenance for the wildebeest. In this regard, the relationship between the two species is mutually beneficial.

You'll be spending the majority of your day in the Maasai Mara National Reserve observing the movements and interactions of two specific species. Take some time to observe the animals' attempts to cross the Mara River. Return to camp in the late afternoon to take part in relaxation activities and savor a delicious dinner.

Day 04 Watch the Great Migration along the Mara River

Start your morning off with a delightful breakfast before venturing out to take in the sights of the wildlife at the Mara River. Travel to the park in a comfortable 4x4 safari vehicle and maximize your viewing of the various animals. Your guide will provide interesting insights into the migration pattern, as well as the differing characteristics between the wildebeest and zebra.

A migratory animal such as the wildebeest displays a form of intelligence termed "swarm intelligence", wherein the herd moves together to explore and exceed limitations. This species is far from defenseless, as they have mastered adapting their behavior to secure their own safety. Even within moments of birth, a wildebeest must be capable of walking, or else the mother will leave her offspring as vulnerable prey. This highlights the wildebeest's need to be intelligent in order to thrive.

The Mara River is a treacherous passage for animals due to the lurking crocodiles. They stay hidden beneath the water, ready to grab their unsuspecting victims with powerful jaws and pull them down underwater. Highly agile creatures, they have the capability to launch much more than half of their bodies out of the water when hunting. Not only that, but also use their tails as an additional means of attack.

Today, you'll observe the river and its wildlife's movements, going from place to place in order to get the perfect view. Come dusk, it'll be time to go back to camp, where a nourishing dinner and peaceful evening awaits.

Day 05 Discover Lake Naivasha on a Boat, Horseback, or Hot Air Balloon

Start your day with a delicious breakfast and one last glimpse of the gorgeous Mara River. After, take a break and relax at tranquil Lake Naivasha, which is located in a rift valley approximately 120 kilometers away from Nairobi.

After making yourself comfortable in your accommodation and savoring lunch, you may want to take part in the many activities at Lake Naivasha. To just relax, stay by your hotel and edit your photos, or you can go on a thrilling exploration. Spend an hour cruising around the lake to view the hippo population, or explore the wildlife at Hellsgate Park, a closeby attraction popular for its birdwatching, cycling, and walking tracks. Another great option is to circle the lake by bike, horseback, or hot air balloon.

Day 06 Depart Nairobi

After saying goodbye to the breathtaking Naivasha and amazing Kenya, you'll transfer to the Nairobi airport for your onward flight. Have a good breakfast before heading there to ensure you make it to the terminal on time.
