3-Day Rwanda Akagera National Park & Golden Monkeys

Your driver-guide from Golden Rwanda Safaris will pick you up at your hotel in Kigali at around 5:30 am.

You will then travel to Akagera National Park for a full-day game drive exploring the park from south to north. The experience lasts approximately 8 to 12 hours, giving you time to spot diverse wildlife including elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, antelopes, and possibly predators such as lions and rhinos.

After the game drive, you will return to Kigali in the evening for an overnight stay, concluding a memorable safari day in Rwanda’s only savannah national park.

Set off early at 4:00 am for Volcanoes National Park headquarters, where your golden monkey trekking adventure begins. After a short briefing, you will enter the forest in search of these rare and lively primates.

Once located, you will spend an unforgettable hour observing them as they move through the bamboo forest, offering one of the most intimate and exciting wildlife encounters. The experience of being so close to these fascinating creatures in the misty slopes of the Virunga Mountains is truly magical.

After the trek, you will transfer to Lake Kivu, where you can relax by the lakeside. Dinner and overnight will be at your lodge near the lake.

After breakfast at around 8:00–9:00 am, you will drive back to Kigali for a historical and cultural city tour.

Begin with a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial, where over 250,000 victims of the 1994 Genocide are laid to rest. You will also explore key historical sites from Rwanda’s colonial, post-independence, and post-genocide periods, including the former Belgian camp.

Continue with visits to Kimironko Market and local craft shops, where you can shop for souvenirs and experience everyday local life.

After the tour, you may enjoy dinner before being transferred to Kigali International Airport for your departure flight, marking the end of your journey.
