3-Day Rwanda Gorilla & Golden Monkey Safari

Today, you’ll be picked up either from Kigali International Airport or your hotel, where your guide will warmly welcome you and brief you on the day’s program. You’ll begin with a short city tour of Kigali, visiting key cultural and historic sites such as the Kigali Genocide Memorial, local craft markets, and the Kandt House Museum of Natural History depending on time.

After the tour, enjoy lunch at a restaurant of your choice, with options ranging from local Rwandan cuisine to continental dishes.

In the afternoon, you’ll set off on a scenic drive to Volcanoes National Park, the renowned home of the mountain gorillas, marking the beginning of your unforgettable wildlife adventure.

Today, you’ll meet the mountain gorillas in their natural habitat within the Virunga Mountains at Volcanoes National Park. Your guide will transfer you to the briefing point, where you’ll be assigned a gorilla family to track. The trek may take anywhere from one to several hours, depending on where the group nested the previous night, and a good level of fitness is recommended. Once you find them, you’ll spend one unforgettable hour observing them up close before beginning your return hike.

After the experience, you’ll visit the Gorilla Guardians Village, a community initiative that supports conservation. Many members are former poachers who now earn a living by sharing their culture, helping protect the gorillas while preserving local traditions.

After breakfast, your tour guide will pick you up for a golden monkey trekking experience in Volcanoes National Park. You’ll begin with a briefing at the park headquarters before heading into the forest to track these playful and fast-moving primates. Once found, you’ll spend one hour observing them in their natural habitat.

After the trek, return to your lodge for a quick refresh before checking out and departing for Kigali, bringing your journey to a close.
