3-Day Rwanda Gorillas Encounter

Arrive at Kigali International Airport on a morning flight (before 2:00 pm). After completing arrival formalities, you will be warmly welcomed by your guide who will transfer you to Volcanoes National Park.

The journey takes you through Rwanda’s stunning terraced hillsides, showcasing the country’s iconic “Land of a Thousand Hills” landscape. As you travel north, you’ll gradually ascend toward the base of the majestic Virunga Volcanoes, where, on clear days, you may catch views of several volcanic peaks.

Upon arrival near the park, proceed to your lodge for check-in, relaxation, and preparation for the adventures ahead.

Today you will wake up early and drive to Volcanoes National Park. Upon arrival at the park headquarters, attend a briefing before setting off into the forest for your gorilla trekking adventure.

The trek through the foothills of the Virunga Mountains, guided by an experienced ranger, offers breathtaking views and an immersive experience in the wild. Gorilla trekking can be physically demanding, taking anywhere from 1 to 7 hours depending on the location of the gorilla family.

Once the gorillas are found, you will spend one unforgettable hour observing them in their natural habitat—watching their interactions, feeding, and social behavior up close in a respectful and controlled environment.

In the afternoon, return to your lodge and relax after this incredible wildlife experience.

Today, you may opt for an additional golden monkey trekking experience in Volcanoes National Park (at an extra cost). This activity typically takes 2–4 hours, including one hour spent observing the rare and playful golden monkeys in their natural bamboo forest habitat.

Alternatively, you will drive back to Kigali and enjoy a city tour. Highlights include a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial in Gisozi, offering a powerful insight into Rwanda’s history and resilience.

In the evening, you will be transferred to Kigali International Airport for your departure flight back home, marking the end of your safari experience.
