3-Day Volcanoes National Park Budget Safari

From the moment you arrive at Kigali International Airport, your driver-guide will be ready to welcome you into the “Land of a Thousand Hills,” offering a short briefing about your itinerary.

You will then begin your city exploration in Kigali, known as one of the cleanest and most organized cities in Africa. The tour includes a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial, where you will learn about one of the most significant and tragic events in modern history and pay your respects to the victims.

Afterward, you will visit Kimironko Market, the city’s largest local market, filled with fresh produce, fabrics, and handicrafts. Enjoy a local lunch in the city before continuing your afternoon tour to the Inema Arts Center, where you can experience Rwanda’s vibrant contemporary art scene and purchase souvenirs.

At the end of the day, you will transfer to your hotel in Kigali for dinner and overnight rest.

Rise early with Kigali’s morning rhythm, enjoy a hearty breakfast, and check out of your hotel in Kigali.

Your driver-guide will then transfer you north to Volcanoes National Park, passing through beautiful tea plantations, rolling green hills, and lush evergreen rainforests that define Rwanda’s scenic countryside.

You will arrive at your lodge around midday, enjoy lunch, and take time to relax in the peaceful environment near the park.

In the afternoon, visit the Gorilla Guardians Village (formerly Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village), where you will be welcomed by traditional singers and dancers. Here, you will learn about Rwandan heritage, including ancient traditions, beliefs, values, and ways of life.

Later in the evening, return to your lodge for dinner and a restful overnight stay, preparing for the next day’s adventure.

After breakfast, you will head to the park briefing center at Volcanoes National Park headquarters, where ranger guides will explain the rules, regulations, and expected code of conduct for gorilla trekking.

You will then be grouped into small teams of up to 8 people and assigned a specific gorilla family to track. The trek takes you through rugged terrain, misty forests, and higher-altitude landscapes until you reach the gorillas’ natural habitat.

Once you locate them, you will spend one unforgettable hour observing these gentle giants as they feed, play, and interact, including mothers grooming their young.

After the experience, you will return to the briefing point and be driven back to your lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, you will check out and begin your journey back to Kigali. You will then be transferred to Kigali International Airport or your preferred final destination, marking the end of your safari.
