4-Day Bwindi Gorilla Trekking Tour

You’ll begin the day with a brief city tour of Kigali, visiting key places of interest including the powerful Kigali Genocide Memorial.

After the tour, you will drive for about 3 hours to Volcanoes National Park, arriving in the afternoon. Along the way, enjoy Rwanda’s scenic countryside of rolling hills and green landscapes.

In the afternoon, you will visit the Twin Lakes of Burera and Ruhondo for a relaxing nature walk and sightseeing experience, taking in views of the surrounding volcanoes and lush terrain.

Dinner and overnight stay will be at Da Vinci Lodge, where you can unwind and prepare for the next day’s adventure.

You will have breakfast and then attend a briefing on golden monkey tracking at Volcanoes National Park. After the briefing, you will proceed into the forest to track these rare primates, found only in the Virunga Massif. During the trek, you will observe them as they move through the bamboo forests, forage, and interact in their natural habitat.

After the experience, you will return for a cultural visit to the Gorilla Guardians Village, followed by a visit to the Ellen Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund to learn more about mountain gorilla conservation efforts.

Later, you will transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, crossing into Uganda as you continue your journey. Upon arrival, check in at Ichumbi Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay, surrounded by the peaceful forest environment.

On this highly anticipated day, you will head to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for a briefing on the do’s and don’ts of gorilla trekking. After the briefing, you will be guided into the forest, moving through dense vegetation with chances of spotting various wildlife along the way.

Once you locate the gorilla family, you will spend one unforgettable hour in their presence—observing their behavior, taking photos, and learning more about their social structure while maintaining a safe distance.

After the trek, you will return and proceed for a community visit, where you will experience the local culture and learn about the traditions of the surrounding communities. Meals and overnight stay will be at your hotel, allowing you to relax after the day’s adventure.

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Lake Mutanda for a relaxing canoe ride, where you can enjoy calm waters, scenic views of the surrounding hills, and a peaceful end to your Uganda experience.

Later, you will begin a relaxed drive back to Kigali, passing through beautiful countryside landscapes along the way. You will arrive in the afternoon for a drop-off at your hotel or Kigali International Airport, depending on your travel schedule.
