4-Day Mid-Range Kenya Safari

In this 4 days, 3 nights tour you will visit two major Kenyan wildlife parks. The park has the usual big five of the lion, the elephant, the buffalo, the leopard and the rhino, plus cheetah, zebra, giraffe and many types of antelopes. The weather of the area is interesting, and if you decide to travel during July-October, there will be a chance to see the Great Migration.

This is the captivating scenic view of Lake Nakuru that is salty and alkaline and famous for the thousands of flamingoes that throng the natural wonder. This national park also hosts different other animals like rhinos, leopards, baboons, and Rothschild’s giraffes. It comprises various game viewing drives within both the major parks including the Masai Mara and the Lake Nakuru Parks. The first is by road transport from Nairobi to the Maasai Mara, which usually takes between five and six hours depending on the traffic on the road. You will mostly be on tarmac throughout the journey until you near Masai Mara where part of the road is rough.

From Masai Mara it will take 4-5 hours to reach Lake Nakuru passing through the Great Rift Valley with scenic views. The journey from Nakuru to Nairobi normally takes about 3-4 hours to complete when coming from Nakuru town. Sometimes certain parts of the roads can be a bit rough still, the scenery and wildlife seen on the roads make it interesting.

This tour can be done all through the year although the best time depends with the experience one is looking for. This can be best done in the month of July-October when the wildebeest and zebras cross the Mara River during the great migration.

Bird watchers are advised to plan their visit between March and May, or November, when the flamingos, as well as other migratory birds, flock to the lake.
