4-Day Rwanda and Uganda Safari Experience with Gorillas

Your adventure begins with a warm welcome in Kigali, Rwanda’s vibrant capital. After pick-up, enjoy a guided city tour including a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial, local markets, and cultural centers—offering meaningful insight into the country’s history and resilience.

After lunch, if time allows, you may visit the scenic Twin Lakes—Lake Burera and Lake Ruhondo—known for their stunning views and tranquil surroundings. Otherwise, continue with a scenic drive northwest through Rwanda’s rolling hills to Volcanoes National Park, home to endangered mountain gorillas and golden monkeys.

Arrive at your lodge in the late afternoon or early evening, where you can check in, relax, and enjoy dinner as you prepare for the exciting primate adventure ahead.

Start your day with an early breakfast before meeting your guide for a briefing on the day’s activities. By 8:00 am, you will head into Volcanoes National Park for an exciting golden monkey trekking experience.

These rare and energetic primates are found in the bamboo forests along the slopes of the Virunga Mountains, where the terrain is relatively easy to navigate. You will spend an unforgettable hour observing their playful behavior in their natural habitat.

After the trek, return to your lodge to freshen up and enjoy lunch before continuing your journey. You will then cross into Uganda via the Cyanika or Katuna border, taking in the beautiful scenery of rolling hills along the way.

Proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its mountain gorillas. Upon arrival in the evening, check into your lodge and relax as you prepare for the next day’s once-in-a-lifetime gorilla trekking experience.

After an early breakfast, you will head to the park headquarters in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for a briefing before setting off into the forest for your gorilla trekking experience.

The trek can take between 2 to 6 hours depending on the location of the gorilla family. Once found, you will spend one unforgettable hour observing these gentle giants in their natural habitat. Since the duration is unpredictable, it is advisable to carry a packed lunch, which will be provided.

After the trek, you will proceed to Lake Bunyonyi, known for its beautiful islands and tranquil setting. It is one of the deepest lakes in Africa (approximately 900 meters) and is considered safe for swimming, making it the perfect place to relax and unwind after your adventure.

Enjoy a peaceful morning with breakfast overlooking the calm waters of Lake Bunyonyi. Afterward, begin your scenic journey back to Kigali, traveling through the beautiful highlands of southwestern Uganda.

Cross the border into Rwanda, with optional stops along the way for souvenirs and local crafts. You will arrive in Kigali in the afternoon or early evening, where you’ll be dropped off at your hotel or Kigali International Airport, depending on your onward travel plans.

This marks the end of your unforgettable 4-day safari—filled with incredible wildlife encounters, rich cultural experiences, and breathtaking landscapes across Rwanda and Uganda.
