4-Day Rwanda Gorilla & Culture Tour

After your morning breakfast, you will meet your driver-guide from Safari Vacations & Travel for a guided city tour of Kigali.

Known as the “Land of a Thousand Hills,” Kigali offers a mix of history and modern development. During the tour, you will visit the Kandt House Museum of Natural History, once home to Dr. Richard Kandt, the first German colonial resident of Rwanda. You will also explore the Presidential Museum, former residence of past Rwandan presidents, and the Kigali Genocide Memorial, a powerful tribute to the victims of the 1994 Genocide.

After the city tour, you will depart Kigali and transfer to Volcanoes National Park, where your next adventure begins.

After an early breakfast, you will be picked up by your driver-guide and transferred to the park headquarters in Volcanoes National Park for a briefing on the rules and guidelines for gorilla trekking.

Gorilla trekking begins at around 7:30 am, and you will be welcomed with Rwandan hospitality, including traditional performances and a cup of hot Rwandan coffee before the adventure starts. Depending on the assigned gorilla family, you will be driven to the appropriate trailhead.

The trek can take anywhere from one hour to several hours depending on the movement of the gorillas in search of food. Once you find them, you will spend a maximum of one hour observing these incredible primates in their natural habitat.

After the experience, you will return to your lodge in the area surrounding Volcanoes National Park to relax and unwind for the rest of the day.

On this day, your safari guide will pick you up from your hotel and transfer you to Lake Kivu for a scenic boat ride.

This experience offers breathtaking views of the lake’s calm waters and the stunning Virunga mountain ranges in the distance. You will also have time to relax along the shores of Gisenyi, with opportunities for swimming, sport fishing, and other optional activities depending on your preference and available time.

It’s a perfect day to unwind and enjoy the natural beauty of one of Rwanda’s most peaceful destinations.

On the final day of your tour, your driver-guide from Safari Vacations & Travel Services will pick you up from your hotel after checkout.

You will then enjoy a scenic drive through the beautiful countryside as you make your way back to Kigali, famously known as the “Land of a Thousand Hills,” marking the end of your unforgettable 4-day safari experience.
