Your safari begins with a warm welcome from your private guide at your hotel in Kigali following your morning breakfast. Depart the city and travel north through Rwanda’s iconic rolling hills on a scenic 2.5-hour drive to Volcanoes National Park. After an early breakfast, head to Kinigi Park Headquarters for your trekking briefing. Choose between the optional Rwanda Gorilla Trek (permit not included at USD $1,500) or enjoy the included Golden Monkey Trek. Both offer exciting opportunities to experience the park’s diverse wildlife and lush rainforest. In the afternoon, cross the border into Uganda and continue to Bwindi or Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and sanctuary for nearly half the world’s mountain gorillas.

Begin with an early breakfast before transferring to the ranger station for your Uganda gorilla trekking briefing. You’ll then set off into the dense forest accompanied by a trained ranger in search of one of the habituated gorilla families. Once found, spend an awe-inspiring hour observing the gorillas up close in their natural habitat. This powerful experience offers a deep connection with nature. Afterward, return to the lodge to relax and reflect on your incredible encounter.
