FAQs
While on this safari, you will be able to witness one of the most magnificent spectacles of the entire natural world, the Great Migration. Every year one and half million wildebeests and hundreds of thousands of zebras and gazelles migrate between Serengeti plains of Tanzania and the Mara plains of Kenya in their never ending search for water and green pastures. Look forward to tense river crossing sequences where the herds are confronted by crocodiles and confrontations with other predators which include lions, cheetas and hyenas. However, the most rewarding of all is the chance to view the ‘The Big Five’ namely lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino not forgetting other animals unique to these regions.
Deciding when to plan your safari trip in order to witness the Great Migration in Maasai Mara and Serengeti depends on the specific aspect of the migration that you would prefer to observe. The most spectacular river crossings are expected between July and October when the herds migrate from Serengeti to Maasai Mara. But during winter-such from December to March, tourists have a chance to observe the calving season in the Serengeti: thousands of wildebeests calve and come under attack. Green season is identified as being in the months of April to June but there are still lots of animals migrating.
The 7-Day Migration Gnu Safari covers a number of top rated facilities including luxury lodges, luxury tented camps, and budget camps. Choices include comfortable luxury lodges with all the amenities, luxury mobile camps following the migration as well as mid range tented camps which are also very good for viewing wildlife. They can choose from luxurious lodges, luxury Tented Camps, or Luxury Migration Tented Camps that follow the migration circuits. They are intended to allow you explore the natural beauty of these inspiring geography while providing premium creature comforts and amenities.
The schedule is arranged in a way that will allow more viewing of wildlife in both Maasai Mara and the Serengeti. The most common one starts in Kenya in the Maasai Mara where tourists spend several days following the migrating herds, wandering through the endless grasslands and witnessing thrilling hunting action. Later on, you traverse into Tanzania to the Serengeti area where you follow the migration in yet another beautiful backdrop. The above itinerary may also include the Ngorongoro Crater which is another guide and wildlife booking destination depending on the season.
Transportation between Maasai Mara and Serengeti can be by road or by air. By road, one has to cross the Kenya/Tanzania border at Isebania which is time consuming but rewarding as it takes one through some game reserves. However, domestic flights between Maasai Mara and Serengeti are more convenient as they take significantly less time and most of the time spent is on game drives. Self-drive vehicles driving in each reserve are 4 x 4 to allow easy access in to theExecute Auckland’s game viewing with open roof ideal for photography.
Equipment required to be worn for the game drive include light and earthy tones, warm clothing for early morning and evening, comfortable shoes, and a good quality hat. A pair of binoculars and a camera with a powerful lens are especially crucial when photographing wildlife. Other essentials to carry are an insect repellent, sunblock, shades, and a power outlet adapter for the equipment. For domestic flights that carry luggage weight limits for the checked items, it is wise to pack lightly and avoid carrying hard-shelled luggage.
Are there some other questions that you would like to be answered concerning those aspects of the safari like the cost?
