Overview
This 6-day safari is specially designed to showcase the spectacular wildebeest migration and the remarkable calving season in Serengeti National Park and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. From December to February, thousands of wildebeest give birth on the southern Serengeti plains, with as many as 8,000 calves born each day during the peak of the season, extending into March. Large herds of zebras and gazelles accompany the wildebeest, taking advantage of the safety provided by the migrating herds while also giving birth to their young, creating one of Africa’s most extraordinary wildlife spectacles.

Lake Manyara provides the perfect introduction to Tanzania’s birdlife. More than 400 species have been recorded and even a first-time visitor to Africa might expect to observe 100 of these in one day. Inland of the floodplain, a narrow belt of acacia woodland is the favored haunt of Manyara’s legendary tree-climbing lions and impressively tusked elephants.

Explore diverse habitats like swamps, woodlands, soda lakes, and the famous Serengeti short-grass plains. See huge herds of wildebeest and zebra. The open grasslands leave them exposed to predators, but they can run within minutes of birth and keep up with the herd within three days.

Lake Ndutu is alkaline like most of the other rift lakes, however, the water is still drinkable and used by a wide array of wildlife. The Serengeti is perhaps most famous for the great migration. Over a million wildebeest and about 200,000 zebra flow south from the northern hills to the southern plains for the short rains every October and November and then swirl west and north after the long rains in April, May and June.
