Mkomazi National Park is a protected area in Northeast Tanzania, on the border with Kenya. Established in 1951, it is one of the oldest national parks in the country and covers an area of 3,347 kilometres (1,298 miles). The park is home to many species of animals, including elephants, lions, leopards, cheetahs, African wild dogs, giraffes, zebras, waterbuck, wildebeest and more.
Mkomazi National Park was established in 1951 by the British colonial government. Initially, the park aimed to protect the endangered black rhinoceros, and later the African wild dog. The park has gone through a number of changes since then and has become an important tourism site in Tanzania.
Mkomazi National Park is home to a variety of wildlife, including elephants, lions, leopards, cheetahs, African wild dogs, giraffes, zebras, waterbuck, wildebeest and more. In addition, the park is also home to over 500 species of birds and reptiles.
Mkomazi National Park is a great place for safari-goers. You can go on game drives to see the incredible wildlife, or you can take a walking safari to get up close to the animals. There are also two rivers which flow through the park, the Tsavo and the Mkomazi, where you can enjoy boat rides and observe the bird and aquatic life.

Mkomazi National Park offers a wide range of accommodation for visitors, including tented camps, lodges and guesthouses. Tented camps provide a traditional African safari experience, while lodges are a bit more luxurious and offer air-conditioned rooms and great views of the park.
Mkomazi National Park is surrounded by a number of other attractions, such as the majestic Ol Doinyo Lengai volcano, which can be climbed, and the Losirwa Hot Springs, located nearby. Additionally, there are a number of villages and towns close by, where you can explore local culture and try different foods.
The best time to visit Mkomazi National Park is during the dry season, from June to October. During this time, the animals gather around the watering holes and rivers, making them easier to spot and observe. Additionally, the weather is cooler and less humid during this period.
